Movie Reaction: Terminator Salvation

Posted in Movies & TV Shows on Jun 08, 2009

Before I see the Terminator: Salvation (part four of the series) I’ve watched the three prequels, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, all starred by Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main terminator. My favorite movie was the The Terminator, the first movie. I like it when Arnold was the bad guy or the bad machine.Ok about the fourth installment, Terminator Salvation. The movie is happening on 2018 (just nine more years from today…gosh!) and the Resistance, a band of fighters, lead by John Connor (Christian Bale), a prophesied human that will help with the freedom of humans over the Skynet, a computer network that tries to dominate the world with machines over human. Connor learned from the recordings left to him by his mother (from The Terminator, part 1) that he needs to look for a person named Kyle Reese and keep him safe. But to find Kyle Reese he needs to trust Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a new kind of terminator; one that believes he is human.

The movie feels like as if every 5 minutes, there’s a hard hitting action or sequence that can wake you up on your sleepiness. Actually, my boyfriend (whom I watched it with together) did enjoy it so much because of all those hard action, blood pumping scenes. Now, that’s what I’m expecting it to be from the directors who created two of the Charlie’s Angels movies. I’m not expecting it to be a hard hitting drama for the actors but I believe that if they made me care for them, that I wanted them to win over the machines, then it’s good enough for me. Somehow it did. I wanted the resistance to win over Skynet or maybe it’s the human part in me. The graphics of the movie is very believable that I feared I’m looking at earth in the near future. I hope that nobody will try to create Skynet in real life. LOL.

If you’ve liked the late Terminator series, it’s a must that you’ll watch Terminator Salvation. But if even if did not watched the previous movies, the fourth movie could still stand on its own.

I’m giving Terminator Salvation with 3.5 stars out of 5.

Its an ok film, not a patch on the original two, a bit pointless really.
