lines06.28.09

Have you noticed your lines near your eyes and above your eye brows?  Usually it appears when you smile (for the one near your eyes) and when you frown (above your eye brows).  Yup!  They are called lines.  I never dare to even call it wrinkles.  Just the sound of it makes me feel old.  It something that mostly every woman’s dreading because it’s the sign that we are  loosing our youth, our shine, our beauty.   It’s something that I’m also dreading but I’m more afraid of having lines and not earning it.  As if I’ve never lived my life.  As if I’ve done nothing.  You know, it’s something that cannot be solved by wrinkle cream, but it’s of something with worth that we can do today.

Holmes & Watson Character Posters Debut06.26.09

This post is dedicated to my sister, Ate Karen or as we fondly call her, Ate Yen.

She got a complete collection of Sherlock Holmes books and so happy that the people from Hollywood is creating a movie adaptation. Honestly, I have not yet read the book sis but I think I’ll watch the movie first. I think it will be great coz Robert Downey, Jr is starring as the main character, Holmes and Jude Law as Watson.

The following are the first character posters from Warner Bros’ Sherlock Holmes. Thanks to Yahoo! Movies!

Thanks to ONTD and Source.

Trips and Planning06.25.09

I can say that this year is the year that I felt and will feel so traveled!   My gosh!  I’m so used to going on a vacation leave at least once a year for two to three days max but last March I’ve been to one of the most amazing countries ever!  I love the feel of a different culture around you, where we all felt the need to blend it but still stands out (it did not help when we speak tagalog most times…LOL).  It’s one of the best experience ever.  An eight day vacation on a different country is indeed amazing.

Now, just after couple of months my friends and I are embarking on new adventures.  I don’t think my budget can hold another out of the country trip again, so we’re planning of going local.  One trip in Caramoan Islands (where they shot several Survivor Series, France, I think) and another in Palawan.  As you’ve noticed, it’s all outdoor activities where I need to wear swimming outfits.  So my greatest plan of all, for my both trip is to loose weight!  Yes!  Who’s with me?  Now, planning ahead.  I’m not going to cancel my membership anymore from Fitness First, so I’ll try to get my money’s worth from there.  Another,  I’m really going on a diet so I need the most effective appetite suppressant ever invented.  For a change, I want to see myself wearing a two piece swimsuit or better yet, an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini.

I can’t really wait!  Yikes!

New Moon Book Cover06.24.09

I’ve already purchased my complete set of Twilight Saga, but if I have not, I would love to get one where the actors are in the cover. I’m not sure if Twilight (Book 1) got their own (actor) cover.

This new New Moon cover is so very Team Jacob-ish…I miss Edward. I hope it’s November already.

Bulletin Board06.23.09

I can’t think of anything else to put in our QA (Quality Assurance) Bulletin Board at work. Please help me! Help us! We’ve got to come up with a great unique idea.   Something that’s not boring, but still “work related”.  I’m mainly assigned in getting the materials.  What are the materials that we need? It has to be something that’s not commonly used. Designs and materials are so relevant that we we’re trying to get the best there is. We’re thinking of cardboard displays attached to the board to make it interactive. What else? Any ideas?

Diet That Works06.10.09

One year left and I’m turning thirty years old already. My deadline is coming. I don’t know why I’m not loosing weight even though I try to lessen my rice intake, drink lots of water, and I’m still enrolled in the most expensive club but still nothing. I’ve tried so many diet pills, luckily I did not palpitate with any of the drugs I tried. I’m happy that I found a pill that will suppress my appetite and burn fats at the same time. So if you’re looking forward to loosing your weight, you too have to buy Phenphedrine. I’m so excited to see the results! Yes!

Movie Reaction: Terminator Salvation06.08.09

Before I see the Terminator: Salvation (part four of the series) I’ve watched the three prequels, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, all starred by Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main terminator. My favorite movie was the The Terminator, the first movie. I like it when Arnold was the bad guy or the bad machine.Ok about the fourth installment, Terminator Salvation. The movie is happening on 2018 (just nine more years from today…gosh!) and the Resistance, a band of fighters, lead by John Connor (Christian Bale), a prophesied human that will help with the freedom of humans over the Skynet, a computer network that tries to dominate the world with machines over human. Connor learned from the recordings left to him by his mother (from The Terminator, part 1) that he needs to look for a person named Kyle Reese and keep him safe. But to find Kyle Reese he needs to trust Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a new kind of terminator; one that believes he is human.

The movie feels like as if every 5 minutes, there’s a hard hitting action or sequence that can wake you up on your sleepiness. Actually, my boyfriend (whom I watched it with together) did enjoy it so much because of all those hard action, blood pumping scenes. Now, that’s what I’m expecting it to be from the directors who created two of the Charlie’s Angels movies. I’m not expecting it to be a hard hitting drama for the actors but I believe that if they made me care for them, that I wanted them to win over the machines, then it’s good enough for me. Somehow it did. I wanted the resistance to win over Skynet or maybe it’s the human part in me. The graphics of the movie is very believable that I feared I’m looking at earth in the near future. I hope that nobody will try to create Skynet in real life. LOL.

If you’ve liked the late Terminator series, it’s a must that you’ll watch Terminator Salvation. But if even if did not watched the previous movies, the fourth movie could still stand on its own.

I’m giving Terminator Salvation with 3.5 stars out of 5.

anniversary gift ideas06.07.09

How douche do you think I sound if I’ll tell you that I’m planning to give my boyfriend a CD?  And it’s a collection of all piano pieces that I dedicate to him?  Yup!  That’s right!  It’s supposedly my anniversary gift for him.  Sounds nice and sweet?  And it’s not something that you can buy anywhere right?  As in one of a kind?  Well I hope so but I have this tiny, weeny, little problem that I forgot to mention. . . . I don’t know how to play piano.

Well, I do have a keyboard and it’s a 61 key type of keyboard but I really don’t know how to play.  I even contacted my cousin who’s very good since she plays at church, wedding and stuff to give me piano lessons.  It’s just that I’m so nervous to do it and afraid that it may not sound good.  I don’t know if he will even listen or like it.  What do you think?

Can you give my other unique gift ideas for him?  For our anniversary I mean?  Something memorable perhaps?

Baz Luhrmann – Everybody’s Free (WEAR SUNSCREEN)06.05.09

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’97
Wear Sunscreen
If I could offer you only one tip for the future,
sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists,
whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience
I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth, oh nevermind,
you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they’ve faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself
and recall in a way you can’t grasp now, how much possibility lay before you
and how fabulous you really looked,
you are not as fat as you imagine.

Don’t worry about the future, or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you

Sing

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts,
don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss

Don’t waste your time on jealousy, sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind,
the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults,
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life,
the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22
what they wanted to do with their lives,
some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t,
Maybe you’ll divorce at 40,
Maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary
What ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either
Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can, don’t be afraid of it,
or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Brother and sister together we’ll make it through
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you’ve been hurtin, but I’ve been waitin’ to be there for you
And I’ll be there just helping you out whenever I can

Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.

Be nice to your siblings, they are the best link to your past
and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get,
the more you need the people you knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard,
Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander,
you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young
prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
Maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you’re 40, it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia,
dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off,
painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen

Brother and sister together we’ll make it through
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you’ve been hurtin, but I’ve been waitin’ to be there for you
And I’ll be there just helping you out whenever I can
Everybody’s free oh yeah
Everybody’s free oh yeah

Thanks to my QA sistah, Ross for sharing this. I know I’ve heard it before…somewhere but I did not have the copy so again, thanks for sharing. Now, if you want a copy of this, you can email me and I’ll send it to you at angelofthewaters at gmail dot com.

Nice mantra!
