my soul stirrer – A Fine Frenzy01.18.11

Have you listened to A Fine Frenzy?

I LOVE HER!  I think she’s one of the hottest pianist today!  I love her red hair and her soothing voice.  But who wouldn’t?

I’m currently listening to her song right now titled Near To You and the following are my favorite lines…

You and I have something different
And I’m enjoying it cautiously
I’m battle scarred, I am working oh so hard
To get back to who I used to be

and of course the chorus!

Near to you, I am healing
But it’s taking so long
‘Cause though he’s gone
And you are wonderful
It’s hard to move on
Yet, I’m better near to you.

If you want to listen to this song, click HERE.

I suddenly miss my best friend Aimz of Marry Me Amy.  Though she’s part of band, I still love to see her playing solo on piano while singing.  Same with Alison (A Fine Frenzy), she’s also gifted in writing songs, a fine pianist and she also got a very good singing voice as well.

Check out their live performance of Embrace (not in piano)

Ricky Martin is a fortunate homosexual man03.30.10

From Ricky Martin’s Music Portal:

ENGLISH VERSION

A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And thisis something worth celebrating.

For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that’s the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It’s my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don’t ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I’m at right now. An amazing emotional place of comprehension, reflection and enlightenment. At this moment I’m feeling the same freedom I usually feel only on stage, without a doubt, I need to share.

Many people told me: “Ricky it’s not important”, “it’s not worth it”, “all the years you’ve worked and everything you’ve built will collapse”, “many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature”. Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.

If someone asked me today, “Ricky, what are you afraid of?” I would answer “the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war…child slavery, terrorism…the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith.” But fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, It fills me with strength and courage. This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.

These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn’t even know existed.

What will happen from now on? It doesn’t matter. I can only focus on what’s happening to me in this moment. The word “happiness” takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.

I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.

RM

I love the last line, saying how proud he was to admit that he’s a homosexual man. He’s so brave to admit it. I hope that he will have more courage now than ever because the hardest part is not the revealing of the truth but the acceptance of the people you love and who loves you.

He’s still hot when he sings this iconic songs…

My favorite OST’s are from Coffee Prince and Lovers. But now, I also listen to K-Pop! Yup it’s trueee! And currently, my favorite is Nobody from Wondergirls! :)

This song is very popular that it got covered by several people, famous and unknowns. See the other versions of Nobody uploaded in YouTube:

high school musical addiction10.10.08

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a late bloomer when it comes to something that everyone’s “kinalolokohan”. Like when the Meteor Garden Fever hit Manila, I did not care. Like when everybody loves Jang Geum, I’m not watching it. Two years ago, High School Musical shocked the whole world with its phenomenon debut and even us here (in Manila) without TV cable was very familiar with the show because of all the hype, but I still did not watch the show.

But that was before –

Now, I’m now a follower of all Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese idol drama shows. Have my own favorite actors and actresses that I support and watch all of their drama shows.

Now, I’ve got to admit that I really, really, really like Zac Efron. He’s cute! He’s pretty! He got a nice voice and he’s a great dancer. And I really love him and Vanessa Hudgens’ love team. On and off screen. Well this high school addiction started when I saw last week the High School Musical 1 (talking of late bloomers…hahaha). After seeing that, I did not stop until I get to see the Part 2 and I was not disappointed. They’re all good! I even adored Sharpay more. She’s really cute in the first movie, but she really shined in the second one. I even like her version of “You are the Music In Me” with Troy, than the one with Troy and Gabriella. Now, I can definitely say that when they show the High School Musical Part 3, I’m definitely going to watch it!

By the way, you’ve got to check the lyrics of this song that Troy (Zac) and Gabriella (Vanessa) sung from Part 2.

Gotta Go My Own Way
sung by: Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron
High School Musical 2

(Gabriella)
I gotta say what’s on my mind
Something about us
doesn’t seem right these days
life keeps getting in the way
Whenever we try, somehow the plan
is always rearranged

It’s so hard to say
But I’ve gotta do what’s best for me
You’ll be ok..

I’ve got to move on and be who I am
I just don’t belong here
I hope you understand
We might find our place in this world someday
But at least for now
I gotta go my own way

Don’t wanna leave it all behind
But I get my hopes up
and I watch them fall everytime
Another colour turns to grey
and it’s just too hard to watch it all
slowly fade away
I’m leaving today ’cause I’ve
gotta do what’s best for me
you’ll be ok..
I’ve got to move on and be who I am
I just don’t belong here
I hope you understand
We might find our place in this
world someday
But at least for now
I gotta go my own way

(Troy)
What about us?
What about everything we’ve been through?

(Gabriella)
What about trust?

(Troy)
you know I never wanted to hurt you

(Gabriella)
and what about me?

(Troy)
What am I supposed to do?

(Gabriella)
I gotta leave but I’ll miss you

(Troy)
I’ll miss you

(Gabriella)
so
I’ve got to move on and be who I am

(Troy)
Why do you have to go?

(Gabriella)
I just don’t belong here
I hope you understand

(Troy)
I’m trying to understand

(Gabriella)
We might find our place in this
world someday
but at least for now

(Troy)
I want you to stay

(Gabriella)
I wanna go my own way
I’ve got to move on and be who I am

(Troy)
What about us?

(Gabriella)
I just don’t belong here
I hope you understand

(Troy)
I’m trying to understand

(Gabriella)
We might find our place in this
world someday
but at least for now
I gotta go my own way
I gotta go my own way
I gotta go my own way

Another Great Album from Ogie Alcasid, The Great Filipino Song Book07.25.08

My sister loves good music that’s why she bought the latest album released by Mr. Ogie Alcasid called “The Great Filipino Song Book” under Universal Records. We saw him performed some of the songs live from S.O.P. (Sobrang Ok Pare), the Sunday noontime show from GMA-7.

John Lapus is SWEETILICIOUS!06.12.08

John is not just sweetilicious, he’s sweety sweet sweet sweetilicious (parang tongue twister anoh?). It was indeed a show that you will savor, sobrang ganda and sobrang funny. I really enjoyed. Proof? If I was not smiling the whole time…I was laughing. I think, I should pay Sweet an extra for the face lift. hahaha. Maraming akong napulot na joke na pwede kong magamit one of this days and maraming akong aral na nalaman. hahaha. Thanks Sweet! :)

Ok, so here’s what happened….My sistah have to fetch me at work. I need to finish tons! It’s my last day, so you can imagine all the “quotaz” I have to finish and it’s all because of my problem in time management and I guess more of my laziness. hehehe…

inside the taxi on the way there

She came around 6:45pm and indi pa ko tapos. I’m not sure if we’re going to be late. Yehey! We still have 20 minutes to relax, unwind, window shopping…Ang daming bag! Grabe! Ang dadanda! Susme! Naglaway ang lola nyo! Ayoko ng bumalik dun! Mamumulubi ako! Buti na lang at di pa sweldo kaya wala akong pera! Hahaha!

tickets for the show

Tsinitsika namin yung taga Nestle at Tang na me booth dun! (Libreng after the show!…Ayos!) At nakatambay lang daw dun sa labas after the rehersal, pa picture nga daw yung iba dun. Ang sister ko gustong maiyak sa panghihinayang…hahaha..luvs nun kasi Dong way back pa nung era with Antoinette Taus. O antagal na di ba? Tapos me dumating na guy, amputi! Sayang I don’t have my camera ready. After a while, pinapasok na rin kami sa loob.

ano ito college reunion, hehehe? with yvette

While we were waiting for the show to start, imagine a seat away from me, I saw my college friend, Yvette with her hubby. Nyak! Small world! Parang reunion itoh! Hahaha! And to make the world smaller….she was also one of the winners from PEP.ph. O diva? Ibang iba! Small world talaga! hahaha!

opening number

So it’s past nine when the show started. The opening number was Sweet’s ala “Vilma Santos” dance number. Napapatili ako talaga. Parang show girl with all his male back up dancers. Infairness, he’s very good in dancing. Ano kaya’t ganun ang parusa sa kanya sa Don’t Lie To Me? That’s tiring for him for sure! Then when he was changing his outfit, you can see his friends giving him messages and greeting him. Nakakatuwa talaga yun… Binuking sya talaga, included yung make up artist and hair stylist nya…o di ba bongga?

ala kim

Then pumasok si Sweet sa stage on his bike wearing a white dress. Cute, catchy and nakakahilo ang opening ni Sweet. For sure nahilo din sya. Hahaha. And his monologue was so funny, he shared all his endeavors on his fifteen years in showbizness. Ang choray noh? From a simple researcher to a multi talented showbiz host, writer and comedian. His career’s full of life and very rich with experience. Very colorful. Parang rainbow! hehehe

spoofing Kris A

After that, Sweet showed us his trademark impersonations of Sheryl Cruz and his close friend Kris Aquino. Nakakatawa talaga pramis! Pero ang bentang benta ay yung gawan nya ng ibat ibang version ang walang kamatayang linya ni Ms Cherie Gil na, “You’re nothing but a second rate, trying hard, copy-cat!” sa version ni Nora Aunor, Jacklyn Jose, Sheryl Cruz, Kris Aquino, Annabel Rama, Mahal at marami pang iba. Sobra! After that part, I knew I had to go to the bathroom for a short wee-wee break.

some of the movies made

Then Sweet showed us all his films done. Dami pala, 27! Parang age ko na! And his first movie was Bala and Lipstick with Roderick Paulate and one of the memorable films for him was “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” because his nick Sweet was used in that movie for the first time ever. That’s why he sung, the theme song while we saw the clips from his other movies.

He did his comedy bar segment where he asked one of the audience to participate. Kaloka talaga! Just look at the pic below!
ala comedy bar

ala comedy bar 2

with a fan guest

with a fan guest – naughty

Then he also did his trademark “Prangka Ka John!”.

The hunk guests:

Lumang Songhits10.13.07

I was just cleaning my room (my 11th Must-Do) when I saw this plastic bag na pagkabigat-bigat. I wondered what it was, I opened the plastic, and it was like my old treasure…I saw some of my old songhits. Ang saya! Mga isang dangkal pa yung dami. Natuwa talaga ako. Pramis! Haayyy…. I was collecting it before kasi. Sayang, iba pa naman nito ay issues nuong early 90′s pa, around 1993 pa yung iba tapos puro black and white lang yung mga articles, even the pics. Mostly were from Smash!, Golden Hits, Trip, 2000 Music Mag, Solid God atbp. And the price was around P7.50 lang. Minimum Fare! hehehe. Nakakatuwa kasi dun sa songhits, buo pa ang Eraserheads at Rivermaya. Me article pa about Jonathan of Introvoys in coping his fandom and teenage life and yung ke Paco, na nagpasikat ng Line to Heaven. (I’m so excited, wait for my entry about them).

I remembered yung unang song na natutunan kong gitarahin was Obladi-Oblada ng Beatles. Hahaha! Oldies pero classic ha! Madali lang kasi yung chords tapos matututo ka kaagad magpalipat-lipat from one chord to another.

But that was before I encountered yung me mga sharps (#) and base (b) na chords. Dun!

Basta jamming. Jamming. At dahil din sa lumang songhits na to, nakatugtog ako nung Recognition Day namin when I was in fourth year highschool with my friends. It was an all-girl band. Drummer nun si Jacqueline Ngo, Lead Guitar si Jackylou Blanco (indi yung artista ha), Rhythm Guitar ang lola mo, at singers sila Mildred Capinig at Jaqueline Advincula (+).

Sikat na sikat nun yung Prettier Than Pink. She’s very supportive, tsaka me award kasi yung younger sister ko (same school, two years younger) kaya sya andun, at syempre ako rin meron. NAKS!

Haayyy….sarap i-reminisce. It all started just because of all the lumang songhits that I found. Abangan!
