valentine date – a road trip02.20.11

We had our valentine date yesterday – road trip up north!

It’s been a long time since we did this, with all the busy-ness in the world, it’s no wonder.  I’m just glad that we were able to celebrate Valentines this year.  I really like it when we have road trips because we will have the chance to really talk.  Yesterday, we were talking and  talking for almost 10 hours and I love every minute of it. :)

I hope that we can do this again. Can’t wait!

By the way, here are some of the road shots:

I love this bridge because it’s white…

I love the trees cause it’s making an arc for us.. :)

We had lunch at Matutina’s in Tarlac

Here’s our food, Sinigang na Hipon, Boneless Bangus Belly and Grilled Pusit

I love this grilled pusit, it’s soft and so fresh!

Then we went to Clark to buy some goods from Duty Free, then we discovered something…who would have thought that the Nayong Pilipino now is in Clark, in their Clark Education City. I really need to visit that again soon, maybe together with my niece. She will love it!

Till next time…

Up North Trip Day 2 – La Union, Vigan, Ilocos Sur06.25.10

It was January 15 and we woke up early since we wanted to catch the sunrise from the most coveted resort in all of La Union, Thunderbird. Their facilities are amazing. The view from their location is outstanding, no wonder the rate of the hotel’s sky high. See the early morning view? Love it! Love it!

After the trip from the resort, we had back to the house to eat our breakfast. Thanks to Toni’s mom it was so amazing! I love the longanisa together with the sukang Ilocos (vinegar from Ilocos). I also love the danggit and fried fish. After breakfast, we rested for a while then went to Sebay to try surfing the waves! Only Malen and I tried the surfing lesson for an hour. The money was all worth it. Believe me. So if you have the chance to go to La Union, make sure that you will have the chance to try surfing, and even if you don’t know how you have to take a one time lesson from the local, fun and experience surfers.

After surfing, we went back to Toni’s hacienda and took a bath. We are on our way to Ilocos Sur but before we drove there, we have to try the famous Fiesta Casino. Yup, I lost P200 from playing the slot machine. I think it’s only Malen who did not loose money and made at least couple of hundreds. After that we went back to Toni’s place and drove to Ilocos.

We made a short stop to experience how beautiful and romantic nights at Vigan are. It will make you want to hug and kiss your special someone, believe me, coz it made me. Make sure to bring your camera who can shot beautiful night pictures and you will get a lot to remember.

Thanks to Mario’s relatives for the warm acceptance and letting us stay there.

Up North Trip Day 1 – La Union06.20.10

Started last January 14 and for four days, me and my friends have traveled up north to conquer the hidden beauty of Northern Philippines. Thanks to Mario for letting us hitch hike all the way to La Union to Ilocos Sur and back.

Toni, our very own haciendera

We have to go now…
Time for big snacks!

Stop over at the Shell along the highway for late, late lunch.

So after work we traveled for six hours all the way to La Union where we stayed to Toni Parel’s hacienda. Her family is very welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay there. It really feels like we’re staying in a hotel since we were really taken care of, we even have all of our rooms air conditioned. So here it us, testing the beds…

Stay tuned for the next days happening and a lot of picture taking.

Charles Schultz Philosophy04.16.10

This time, I want to share something that I received from email. Hope you all like it as much as I did..do.

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the “Peanuts” comic strip. You don’t have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through and you’ll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

“Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today.

It’s already tomorrow in Australia.” (Charles Schultz)

What’s with my 2009?02.06.10

I know I’m not posting all that’s been happening to me though I really want to share it all. Please forgive me for though I want to blame my lack of time and I guess it’s really my laziness that got me and I guess sometimes I really wanted to post something that’s worth reading for all but in the end it dragged and decided that it’s too late to even post it all.

Now this time, I just wanted to compose little doodles of what happened to me last year 2009.  So what’s really with my 2009?

January – I spent most of my time preparing for my upcoming trip. Prepared for the passport, Visa for China – which we failed to get one, trying to save. I also had my hair rebonded at Heaven’s Salon in Shaw, it was very cheap but very disastrous I wish I had not had my hair done though. And for the past three years, last Jan 29, 2009 I was late for two minutes for the first time for work.

February – from the 11th to the 25th, mom, dad and prince went to Dumaguete after more than two decades.

March – from the 4th to 11th was my first international trip, it was in Hong Kong with friends, Aimz, Sherlie, Lizzie and Malen. Got my Jason Statham and BOF (Boys Over Flowers) addiction.

April – got my complete, hard bound book of Twilight Saga Collection. Went to Family Day, Fun Day with the whole family.

May – ended the summer getting addicted watching the whole series of Desperate Housewife.

June – nothing special, just finished the latest Supernatural Season.

July – first fight, got heartbroken from July 2 – 5, but mended after a very, very long talk. Got excited coz it’s Harry Potter 6. Anniversary, dare I say for how long?

August – consecutive dates with Howe, 2 – Padi’s Point in Antipolo, 8 – Shopwise, Cubao, 15 – SM Marikina, GI Joe and Old Spaghetti House, started my Joongbo addiction and lost around 7 lbs because of it.

September – start of my graveyard shift and sleeping problems. Ondoy tragedy.

October – from 11th to 15th we went to Palawan with Malen, Toni, Jade, Aila, Carol, Sally, Japokx, Wilmer. And on the 24th I got a brand new cellphone, yesh!

November – after fourteen years I got to meet my old high school friends when we had our meeting for our high school reunion at Robert’s (Bato) Place in Maysan. First time for that year when we had our first QA Team Building at Caliraya, Quezon from 28th to 29th.

December – was too busy to put anything on my planner. ^_^ Ate Kayen came back from Hong Kong. Had our grand draw for our high school reunion.

Amidst all of the things that’s happening in the world. I just stated what I think deserves a highlight of what happened and mostly affected me. See how shallow I am? :) Hope you had a wonderful 2009 and have an even more fruitful 2010. Kung Hei Fat Choi to all!

Day 1 of 5 in Palawan – Puerto Princesa City Tour11.27.09

We boarded the plane at 7:30 am and left Manila around 8 am. And we arrived in Puerto Princesa around 9:15 am. After getting our baggage, we met our travel agent headed by Jo of JB Travel and Tours. We boarded the van and checked for the itinerary sent. We had an early lunch at Inato’s. I love the grilled tuna that I ordered. It’s thick, fresh and well grilled. For the price of around P200, I was able to get a fulfilling, tasty meal. The money spent was worth. I also love the ambiance since it’s outside and you can feel the fresh air. Hmmm…the smell of Palawan…. After the early lunch (personal account – meaning we paid for it and it’s not part of the tour package), we proceed with the City Tour. Here’s the list of sites we’ve been:

- Running tour to Rizal Avenue (tour guide really knows the city, one highlight, since Puerto Princesa is an island, buildings cannot be taller than 3 storey floors)
- Baywalk (I like the fact that their baywalk does not have any restaurants, compared with Roxas Blvd, it’s a lot better and less commercialized)
- Plaza Cuartel (I felt sorry for all the soldiers who were burned in the Cuartel, though it’s not on a good light, history is part of what makes a city now)
- Immaculate Conception Cathedral
- Binuatan Weaving Center
- Mitra’s Ranch (you can see a very good view of Puerto Princesa City from this location since it’s considered as the highest peak of the island, I love our picture taking session here!)
- Baker’s Hill (I adore, love the bread here! Yum! Yum!)
- Crocodile Farm (First time to hold a live crocodile. Though it frightens the hell out of me, I just gritted my teeth and did it. I will not let it pass without trying it. AJA!)

We finished the City Tour around 4pm and we’re off to El Nido. In Roxas, we had our early dinner around 6pm, from a Vietnamese restaurant where our driver/travel tour representative took us, which is not that good. I did not enjoy the food. After the early dinner, we continued the drive to El Nido. It’s a good thing that I was so sleepy since I did not had any sleep the night and slept almost all the time through the seven hour drive because the rough road is literally rough! Based on my friend’s account of the event, I’m flying and almost hitting my head to the ceiling of the van and I simply don’t care. Well, I don’t care at that time but after we reached Marina Garden Resort and got off, I can feel as if I had tons of bruises and my muscles are sore. LOL.

Good thing that we kind of arrived late at Marina Garden Resort in El Nido around 11pm, because that means I don’t need to eat dinner anymore…sticking with my diet rules…for how long? Well, I don’t know…hahaha. We just had a midnight snack, we ate the bread from Baker’s Hill. I particular like the UBE flavored Hopia. When I first had it in Baker’s Hill, it’s freshly made, still hot and so so tasty.

So this is the room division, first room, room number 5: Malen, Aila and I. Second room, room number 6: Toni, Sally and Wilmer. Third room, room number 7: Japoks, Carol, and Jade. All rooms are clean and well kept. The AC is brand new (I guess) since it looks like one and it really gives cool air. The bathroom is also nice and it’s clean. Good thing there’s no water problem, I love to take long baths… . One thing though, it’s not bad but it should have been nice to know prior from happening, the power is off in the whole island from 6am till 2pm, since the company that provides the power cannot give them 24/7. Good thing, I had my camera, mp3 and cell phone full charged the night before.

So that’s our first day in Palawan. Will post soon the second to fifth. With more pictures than story…I guess…

Inside Terminal 2, while checking in our baggages…picture picture!
What island is this? Parang insekto…
At the Puerto Princesa Airport

Having early lunch, yum yum grilled tuna!

Group shot inside the Plaza Cuartel

Malen is hugging the wall, years older than us! LOL. She’s a history buff, you know!

And I’m just contented in standing away from the walls…doing the “V” sign!

One of the stops, Binuatan Creations…

They’ve got really cool designs for hand bags

And you can weave your own bag if you want…just kidding!

I love our stay here…Mitra’s Ranch! The air and the view are so freshing! Considered as the highest peak in Palawan…nice view of the city!

Group shot!

Photo session…

Photo session of the girls.

Couple shot with best friend

At Baker’s Hill and some highlights….
