Harry Potter: The Origin of Deathly Hallows07.12.11

There were once three brothers who were traveling along a lonely, winding road at twilight. In time, the brothers reached a river too deep to wade through and too dangerous to swim across. However, these brothers were learned in the magical arts, and so they simply waved their wands and made a bridge appear across the treacherous water. They were halfway across it when they found their path blocked by a hooded figure.

And Death spoke to them. He was angry that he had been cheated out of three new victims, for travelers usually drowned in the river. But Death was cunning. He pretended to congratulate the three brothers upon their magic, and said that each had earned a prize for having been clever enough to evade him.

So the oldest brother, who was a combative man, asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence: a wand that must always win duels for its owner, a wand worthy of a wizard who had conquered Death! So Death crossed to an elder tree on the banks of the river, fashioned a wand from a branch that hung there, and gave it to the oldest brother.

Then the second brother, who was an arrogant man, decided that he wanted to humiliate Death still further, and asked for the power to recall others from Death. So Death picked up a stone from the riverbank and gave it to the second brother, and told him that the stone would have the power to bring back the dead.

And then Death asked the third and youngest brother what he would like. The youngest brother was the humblest and also the wisest of the brothers, and he did not trust Death. So he asked for something that would enable him to go forth from that place without being followed by Death. And Death, most unwillingly, handed over his own Cloak of Invisibility.

Then Death stood aside and allowed the three brothers to continue on their way and they did so, talking with wonder of the adventure they had had, and admiring Death’s gifts.

In due course the brothers separated, each for his own destination.

The first brother travelled on for a week or more, and reaching a distant village, he sought out a fellow wizard with whom he had a quarrel. Naturally, with the Elder Wand as his weapon, he could not fail to win the duel that followed. Leaving his enemy dead upon the floor, the oldest brother proceeded to an inn, where he boasted loudly of the powerful wand he had snatched from Death himself, and of how it made him invincible.

That very night, another wizard crept upon the oldest brother as he lay, wine-sodden, upon his bed. The thief took the wand and, for good measure, slit the oldest brother’s throat.

And so Death took the first brother for his own.

Meanwhile, the second brother journeyed to his own home, where he lived alone. Here he took out the stone that had the power to recall the dead, and turned it thrice in his hand. To his amazement and his delight, the figure of the girl he had once hoped to marry before her untimely death appeared at once before him.

Yet she was silent and cold, separated from him as though by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered. Finally, the second brother, driven mad with hopeless longing, killed himself so as truly to join her.

And so Death took the second brother for his own.

But though Death searched for the third brother for many years, he was never able to find him. It was only when he had attained a great age that the youngest brother finally took off the Cloak of Invisibility and gave it to his son. And then he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and, equals, they departed this life.

Harry Potter: What happened to them all?07.10.11

What happened to them?

Harry Potter married Ginny Weasley. They had three children, James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. He became head of the Auror’s Department under Kingsley Shacklebolt.

Ginny Weasley played quidditch for the Holyhead Harpies. After deciding to raise a family, she retired and became Senior Quidditch correspondent at the Daily Prophet.

Hermione Granger married to Ron Weasely and had two children, Rose and Hugo. Hermione went back to Hogwarts and sat her NEWTS before working for Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and helping house elves. She then moved to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement where she eradicated pro-pureblood laws.

Ron Weasley went to work with George at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes until he became an Auror for the ministry.

George Weasley married Angelina Johnson and turned Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes into a lucritive business. They had two children, Fred and Roxanne.

Bill and Fleur Weasley have three kids, Victoire, Dominique and Louis. Victoire seems to have a romantic interest in Harry’s godson, Teddy. She was named after the victory at Hogwarts, since her birthday shared its anniversary.

Charlie Weasley stayed single and continued working with his dragons.

Percy Weasley married a woman named Audrey. They had two daughters, Molly and Lucy.

Arthur Weasley went on as Head of the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects.

Albus Dumbledore had fallen in love with Grindelwald at one point when he was younger. He felt he had lost track of his morals while with Grindelwald, so after this he led a celibate and scholarly life.

Dudley Dursley went on to be married and have children. Harry occasionally went to visit with him, but did not maintain a relationship with the other Dursleys.

Rubeus Hagrid continued to work at Hogwarts and would have young Albus Potter to his hut to tea.

Neville Longbottom married Hannah Abbott. He went on to be the Herbolgy professor for Hogwarts.

Hannah Abbott ran the Leaky Cauldron.

Luna Lovegood married Rolf Scamander much later than Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny married. They had twin sons Lorcan and Lysander. She became a famous naturalist.

Firenze was allowed back into the herd.

Dolores Umbridge was arrested, interrogated and imprisoned for crimes against muggleborns.

Rita Skeeter kept writing. When asked about what happened to her, JK Rowling laughed and said she probably wrote a book about Harry after he defeated Voldemort.

Severus Snape ’s portrait was not put in the headmaster’s office at Hogwarts because he resigned before he died. But Harry told everyone of Snape’s innocence.

The Defence Against The Dark Arts job is no longer jinxed. When Voldemort was killed, the jinx lifted and the school can now keep a D.A.D.A teacher for more than a year.

Draco Malfoy married Astoria Greengrass (younger sister of Daphne) and had a son named Scorpius

Cho Chang married an unnamed muggle.

Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom (Neville’s parents) never got to leave St. Mungo’s. When asked about them, J.K. Rowling said “The damage is done.”

Hogwarts is led by an an entirely new Headmaster (McGonagall was getting a little old).

And lastly, J.K. Rowling lives wealthy ever after. “I’m dealing with a level of obsession in some of my fans that will not rest until they know the middle names of Harry’s great-great-grandparents,” she said in an interiew. But she also said “I love it. I’m all for that.”

Harry Potter Trivia: Spells and Uses07.08.11

I’m so excited!!!

In line with the upcoming latest Harry Potter movie and sad to say, the last installment, I’ll be posting Harry Potter trivias here in my blog.

Disclaimer: I found the articles online and I did not create the list, will be told otherwise.

Harry Potter  Spells and Its Uses

A spell to bring an object back into your hand. It can be used to bring a certain object, such as in Accio Butterbeer.

This spell opens a locked or closed door. The opposite of this is Colloportus.

Avada Kedevra
One of the three Unforgivable Curses, this spell causes death.

This spell locks a door shut. Hermoine uses this to cover their escape at the end of Book 5.

One of the three Unforgivable Curses, this spell is the Cruciatus Curse and causes great pain. Umbridge tries to cast this on Harry at the end of Book 5.

The spell used to rip open tapestries and such. Used quite a bit in the computer game based on Book 2.

Expecto Patronum
This spell creates a silvery protective creature, a patronus. Harry’s patronus is a stag; Cho’s is a swan. Hermoine has an Otter.

One of the more simple spells, and the first spell that the D.A. group works on in Book 5. This disarms your opponent.

A spell to cancel the effects of another spell. Lupin uses it on Neville to get him to stop dancing at the end of book 5.

A form of fire spell, Hermoine uses this to mark an “X” on doors in the Mysteries area in book 5.

A simple spell that flips something over.

This spell causes a person to freeze for about a minute.

One of the three Unforgivable Curses, this allows a wizard to take total control of another person.

A spell to cause an invisible wall to form. Quidditch players use this to keep the rain off their faces at times.

Umbridge tries this on the centaurs in book 5 – to wrap ropes around them – but the centaurs easily shake them off.

A spell to cause a fire to burn.

A spell to extract memories and feelings from another person, to in essence look through the memories another has.

A nonverbal spell to hang a person in the air by one ankle.

The locomotor spell causes something to move in a given direction. For example, to move trunks along with you, you would command Locomotor trunks. To cause someone to freeze stiff, you use Locomotor mortis.

This spell causes the wand tips to glow and give off light.

A dark spell that causes a dark mark – the sign of Voldemort – to appear.

A spell that fills the ears of anyone nearby with buzzing, so that conversations are not overheard.

A spell to cause darkness, the opposite of Lumos. Interestingly, the name of a fun computer RPG.

A memory erasing charm that Professor Lockhart was extremely fond of.

Petrificus Totalis
A spell to cause someone to freeze completely. It seems there are several different spells that cause this same effect :)

The portus spell creates a portkey that allows people to move from one destination to another easily.

A spell of protection, to ward off magical attack. Harry uses this at the end of Book 5 to keep a sphere that another is casting “Accio” on.

An assault spell, reducto causes damage to what it is fired at. The students use Reducto to blow apart bookshelves at the end of Book 5.

A simple spell to repair an object that is broken.

An anti-boggart spell, that causes the boggart’s scary shape-changing ability to be mediated. Mrs. Weasley has trouble with this one at the beginning of Book 5 when a boggart torments her with sights of her family dead.

A cleaning spell, James uses this on Snape when they are young to clean Snape’s mouth out with soap.

A spell to cause something (or someone) to become silent. As Hermoine instructs Ron, this spell is done with a sharp jab of the wand, not a wave.

This spell should freeze an object in place, but when Umbridge tries to use it on an escapee firework, it explodes instead.

A Death eater uses this dance-causing spell on Neville during the final battle in Book 5.

Wingardium Leviosa
Harry uses this to levitate tentacles away from him at the end of book 5.

Movie Reaction: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Part 2)07.28.09

Read this one first: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Part 1)

Disclaimer:  MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD!!! As if you’ve seen the movie!!! :) In the wee hour of the morning, Harry finds himself in the reeds with water up to his ankle and with Burrow not so far from where he’s standing.  When he walked to reach the house, he first saw Ginny in the upper window, she’s thinking and then writing about something. A smile formed to his lips. A smile that could mean a lot. He could be happy to be back on his second home or he’s smiling because he’s simply so happy to see her, Ginny.  Anyways, he looked kind of a little goofy in his own “Harry Potter” way. Then we see Ginny coming down from stairs getting the book from the settee, seeing Hedwig’s case and Harry’s trunk she then asked everyone if Harry already arrived.  It’s the first time that you will see the staircase inside the Burrow, it’s like Hogwarts, but the steps are not moving and it’s made of wood.  You can see the heads of Mrs. Weasley, Ron and then Hermione all asking if it was Harry who came.   Then Harry appeared in front of Ginny.  She looked so glad to see him that she hugged him, followed by Hermione, then Mrs Weasley commenting that they’re all surprised to see him, it seems that they’re not aware that he’s coming that night.  Then you can see Harry goofing at Ginny (again!) where she stands between Ron and Hermion.  Ron commented about Hermione’s smeared toothpaste in her cheek.  It’s funny how I thought that Harry and Ginny hugging here’s outside the Burrow, but after seeing the film, I noticed the Burrow Family clock near Harry’s head.   I thought that this was taken outside of the house because of the brightness.

Next scene, we can see the trio talking in the middle of magic fire (newspaper that’s continuously burning).  They’re discussing about going back to Hogwarts and their parents thinking that it’s not safe anymore.  Harry exclaimed that Hogwarts’ the safest place since Dumbledore’s there.  But Hermione commented that there are talks since Dumbledore’s already getting old but Harry depended him that he’s still young.  Ron’s comment was hilarous, he said that he’s around 150 give and take a few years.  LOL.  I just love Rupert!  His comedic ability astounds me.  He’s so funny.  I like to make him my pet. LOL!  Somebody that could move my moods up whenever I’m feeling down.

After the light comedy scene with the trio, we have another trio for the next scene which is the opposite of the first, it’s a rainy and dark one.  The scene started where we can find the sisters, Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange running through the rain while in a heated discussion of either trusting Snape or not.  Pettigrew answered the door when the sisters knocked in.  Once they’re inside, Snape slammed the door on his face while he tries to listen at the discussion.  Narcissa asked for Snape’s help.  If you’re an avid reader of the Harry Potter series, you will know that Snape is very good with Occlumency and Legilimency , which is the magic of blocking while the later is reading, navigating, conquering people’s mind.  Alan Rickman is one distinctive actor, when he delivered his lines, you can see how he portrayed being Snape while talking with Narcissa Malfoy(Helen McCrory) about him knowing the mission which is far from the truth.  He then learned what was asked of Draco Malfoy by none other than Lord Voldemort.  Bellatrix in her viciousness wanted Narcissa and Snape to perform the Unbreakable Vow, to seal the promise he made for her.   Which is to keep Draco safe and finish the task assigned to Draco, in case he failed to do so.  Bellatrix was shocked that Snape agreed to it.  Since, she have doubts for Snape’s loyalty.

Stay tuned for Part 3…I wonder how many parts will I have before I finished with all the movie reactions for the Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince! :)

Movie Reaction: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Part 1)07.20.09

It had been eight months of waiting before Warner Bros released the sixth installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and I was not disappointed because it’s the best of the Harry Potter series yet!  As of this writing, I’ve already seen the movie twice.  First was for pure enjoyment and second was for review purposes.

So here’s my movie reaction cum summary as I’ve tried to do it in a scene-per-scene.

Disclaimer:  MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD!!! As if you’ve seen the moview! :)

The movie started as if it’s a continuation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, first scene was Harry’s eye as there are so much flashes because of the reporters trying to get pictures of him and Dumbledore from the Ministry of Magic.  It is a good start since we have to start the plot with Harry being the Chosen One and all.  By the way, I love Daniel Radcliffe’s eyes.  It looked so sad…so tired.

Next scene, we saw couple of muggles inside an office or pantry where there’s  a window and from there you can see three dark smokes heading to a one direction, and that is to Diagon Alley where they kidnapped Mr Ollivander, the proprietor of Ollivander’s Wand Shop.  After that they went and destroyed the London’s Millennium Footbridge. It was a bang! I can remember Director David Yate’s interview that if he wanted to destroy a bridge, he can get away with that in Harry Potter movies. And he did! It was an amazing scene. It was so realistic and frightening. You can see the bolts and parts flying and ultimately the bridge falling down under the sea.  I love the effects here!

Next scene, we will see the newspaper headline, “Harry Potter, the Chosen One?” from Daily Prophet which is what Harry’s reading from the subway restaurant called Surbiton. We can also see Harry flirting with the waitress, a very pretty waitress with a charming smile. But then he noticed that the lights are flickering from the platform then Dumbledore appeared.

When he got to Dumbledore’s side, Harry was reprimanded.   In these dangerous times, how can Harry go out and eat outside.  Harry’s only answer was the subway takes things off his mind.  I can feel you there Harry, sometimes, fast moving things makes me forget stuff that’s troubling me.  Maybe, it has something to do with the speed, it catches my eye, my attention.  Harry also noticed Dumbledore’s blackened right hand but they did not discussed it, saying, since they’re in hurry and the story was long and also Dumbledore wanted to give it justice.

Then Harry and Dumbledore apparated to the place where Horace Slughorn was currently staying…temporarily since the muggle owners were on holiday vacation.  It was the first time that the movie Potter shown what really happens when you apparate.  It looks like as if Harry was stretched and then forced inside a tube.  He looked funny.  But I can say that if apparating is real, it would be handy for people who loves to travel.  Like me!  On the gate, they could see the door ajar and as if somebody attacked the house.  But if you’re with Dumbledore, he always know what to do and will always figure things out.  He then found out that Horace just messed up the house intenionally for death eaters who were trying to recruit him.  Dumbledore excused himself to use the loo while Harry talked with Horace.  Horace showed Harry his “shelf” of previous students from Hogwarts. Harry saw his mom and the younger brother of Sirius Black, Regulus.  Horace told Harry of the benefits and freebies that he’s getting because of the connections that he made.  This showed that Horace is a one subtle social climber.  Then after that, Dumbledore went out and bid his goodbye to Horace.  Before Harry and Dumbledore reached the gate, Horace hurriedly followed them and informed Dumbledore that he’s accepting his offer to teach back to Hogwarts.  Then Dumbledore and Harry left, Dumbledore informing Harry that he will go to someplace and will not be back to Little Whinging.  Harry asked for Hedwig and his trunk but Dumbledore said no worries since it’s on it’s way.

This is way too long to be on a one post…Tomorrow, I will continue my movie reaction / summary of the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter Day07.17.09

I’m about to create a movie reaction/review about the latest Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince that came out yesterday and of course we’ve seen on it’s first day of showing because in real life, I’m Ginny Weasley-Potter. hahaha.  But I can’t recall the scenes in order and I want to give it in a scene-by-scene reaction.  Why?  Because I simply love it!  Alright? So to remedy this, I’m going to watch it again tomorrow or on Sunday.  And we’re going to watch it again on Wednesday with Superfriends!  Yipee!  ADIK na kung ADIK!

I love this … shared secret by someone from
