my soul stirrer – A Fine Frenzy01.18.11

Have you listened to A Fine Frenzy?

I LOVE HER!  I think she’s one of the hottest pianist today!  I love her red hair and her soothing voice.  But who wouldn’t?

I’m currently listening to her song right now titled Near To You and the following are my favorite lines…

You and I have something different
And I’m enjoying it cautiously
I’m battle scarred, I am working oh so hard
To get back to who I used to be

and of course the chorus!

Near to you, I am healing
But it’s taking so long
‘Cause though he’s gone
And you are wonderful
It’s hard to move on
Yet, I’m better near to you.

I suddenly miss my best friend Aimz of Marry Me Amy.  Though she’s part of band, I still love to see her playing solo on piano while singing.  Same with Alison (A Fine Frenzy), she’s also gifted in writing songs, a fine pianist and she also got a very good singing voice as well.

Check out their live performance of Embrace (not in piano)

personalized calendar for 201101.11.11

I’m not going to make new year resolutions this year, but for sure I will make plans!

To help me with that, I created this customized 2011 calendar with the picture of my family and the week dates that I need for work.  It’s a nice piece to have in my workstation.  I suddenly missed my brother (who’s currently in Japan) while doing this.  So all you need to do is print this and viola!  Personalized calendar for the new year!  You don’t even have to pay much for this!  Just a little bit of creativeness and a little bit of knowledge in Power Point and Paint!

I also included the template, in case you want to download and create your own calendar.  Enjoy making one and show your creative ness! Leave a comment if you need the bigger size and I’ll email it to you!   ^_^

CR: digitalrevolutions.biz for the wallpaper and vertex42.com for the calendar template

30 more to 3007.19.10

Yup! It’s now 30 more days before I turn 30. Wow! How time flies! I only have 30 more days before I leave the
beautiful days of me being in my twenties. What should I do in my remaining days of youthfulness? LOL. It’s not that I’m so worked out about me turning 30, it’s just that I want to do something different to commemorate ‘the special day’. How about getting a tattoo? Or doing something different with somebody? I don’t know…I really can’t decide. What have you done on your 30th? They say that 30 is the new 20, so I think I’ll do more awesomeness on my 30th! Yesss!

One thing is for sure though, I will have something special, something different thing to do on my special day. I’ll surprise you all!

Did you vote?05.11.10

Yup I did. I exercised my right as a Filipino and let my voice heard. If you didn’t, you don’t have the right to vent your anger in the government if something bad happen. I call it the VENTING RIGHTS. LOL. Don’t tell me that you’re paying your taxes and that should be enough to exercise your VENTING rights. Nope, not enough.

So who did you vote? I want to admit that even up to yesterday I still don’t have anybody in mind for President and Vice President. I’m torn between my conscience and strategy. Don’t worry my conscience still won and it took me only 10 minutes to finish the whole process from finding my name in the master list to having my nail polished with the I-ink. :)

So who did you vote? I kept on asking this because I want to know who. Most of my colleagues at work did not get the chance to vote. Mainly, it has to do something with the lack of time. They don’t have the time to vote since we’re working on a call center company, we don’t have holidays. So they don’t have time to go to their provinces just to vote. I wish that in the future, you can vote anywhere, as in anywhere in the world for as long as you’re a Filipino and of legal age. I think that way, if that happens, in that election we can say that all Filipinos were counted.

So who did you vote? Ok fine. I’ll answer my own question. For President, I voted for somebody who loves to fly and looks good with sunglasses. Who knows…maybe we get miles and free airplane tickets if he wins! For Vice President, I voted someone with political will and with a dead sense of humor coz he says that he does not joke. D’you get it? LOL

So who did you vote? For Senators, they are as follows:
1. A super brainy-crazy witch.
2. A sports woman.
3. Someone who loves to run.
4. A farmer.
5. A butete.
6. A chocolate.
7. Once a panday, always a panday
8. De-De-De
9. Who hates the Aquinos (admit it!!!!)
10. An angel
11. I voted her husband for President when he run against Ramos.
12. Who makes bread or for the madlang people.

So who did you vote? Can you guess mine? 

Efren Peñaflorida, CNN Hero of the Year11.23.09

Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve.
–Efren Penaflorida, CNN Hero of the Year

Efren Peñaflorida, who started a “pushcart classroom” in the Philippines to bring education to poor children as an alternative to gang membership, has been named the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper revealed Peñaflorida’s selection at the conclusion of the third-annual “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Saturday night.

The gala event, taped before an audience of 3,000 at the Kodak Theatre, premieres on Thanksgiving, November 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the global networks of CNN.

The broadcast, which honors the top 10 CNN Heroes of 2009, features performances by Grammy Award-winning artist Carrie Underwood, R&B crooner Maxwell and British pop sensation Leona Lewis.

Peñaflorida, who will receive $100,000 to continue his work with the Dynamic Teen Company, was selected after seven weeks of online voting at CNN.com. More than 2.75 million votes were cast.

“Our planet is filled with heroes, young and old, rich and poor, man, woman of different colors, shapes and sizes. We are one great tapestry,” Peñaflorida said upon accepting the honor. “Each person has a hidden hero within, you just have to look inside you and search it in your heart, and be the hero to the next one in need.

“So to each and every person inside in this theater and for those who are watching at home, the hero in you is waiting to be unleashed. Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve. As I always tell to my co-volunteers … you are the change that you dream as I am the change that I dream and collectively we are the change that this world needs to be.”

The top 10 CNN Heroes, chosen by a blue-ribbon panel from an initial pool of more than 9,000 viewer nominations, were each honored with a documentary tribute and introduced by a celebrity presenter. Each of the top 10 Heroes receives $25,000.

“With the recognition they receive on our stage,” said Cooper, who hosted the tribute, “they’ll be able to help thousands and thousands of people. Through their efforts, lives will be changed and lives will be saved.”

Maxwell sang “Help Somebody” from his first album in eight years, ‘BLACKsummers’night.’

Lewis, a three-time Grammy nominee, performed “Happy,” from her second album, “Echo.”

All three performances echoed the spirit of the CNN Heroes campaign, which salutes everyday people whose extraordinary accomplishments are making a difference in their communities and beyond.

Presenters included Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Neil Patrick Harris, Pierce Brosnan, Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes, Randy Jackson, Greg Kinnear, George Lopez and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

“This record number of nominations is further evidence of the momentum CNN Heroes has built in just a few short years,” said Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide.

“Viewers have been engaged by these stories of inspiration and accomplishment beyond our expectations. It is truly an honor to be able to introduce the CNN Heroes to our global audience every year.”

Again this year, producer/director Joel Gallen served as executive producer of “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute.” Among his credits, Gallen produced telethon events supporting victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks and Hurricane Katrina, winning an Emmy Award and a Peabody Award for “America: A Tribute to Heroes.”

The Kodak Theatre is best known as the first permanent home of the Academy Awards.

This is really inspiring. How awesome it is to be acknowledged and imagine, globally with what he is doing for his fellowmen is amazing. I’m speechless! Congratulations Efren!
